Re: ford motor 488
Mercruiser made a 470, a 488 was a slightly differernt version of it.
Neither were Ford engines.
They were a 4 cylinder Mercruiser aluminum blocks with a 460 Ford head stuck on it. With a poorly designed charging system and a poorly designed cooling system.
Now, what are you trying to find out, exactly. No one has a cross reference as to what 488 parts fit a 470.
