I need help troubleshooting my Evinrude 12/24 troller. It is making a sqweeling noise when I'm trolling. I think it may be a bearing or something but don't know enough about the guts to pull the head apart. Anyone know where I can get a diagram or know what may be wrong??

Thanks guys. I did find the diagrams, but to my suprise there are no bearings in the motor head. Any idea what might be making that noise? I'm sure that it is amplified in the water scarring fish.

Re: Evinrude troller problems

Took a fast look throught my manual and this is what is says under the heading "ELECTRIC MOTOOR SERVICE", "Remove the drive end head from the motor, Disgard the O-rings(2) from the head assemblybut keep the fiber spacer. (you need to get new Oring seals) If the bearing in the drive head end is worn or damaged, replace the assembly." I have not had to pull mine so have not seen the inside of one, but it would appear from the manual that the bearing is a permently attached inside the drive end head and cannot be replaced seperately. There is a cross section diagram of the drive end head in the manual and it appears to confirm this. I can scan this and fire you off a copy if you think it would help.

Re: Evinrude troller problems

HondaPower that would be off great help. I may have to take it in to be repaired but I figure I can buy another cheaper than have that one fixed. I have about $100 in the troller. I see them listed for less than $200 around here all the time. Thing is, they are used also. $400 plus for a brand new one is way out of the question.:( Thanks again.
