I have a problem with my tilt. It works in down position but does not work in the up position. I am trying to get it to my mechanic (still under warranty) but it is all the way down and I cannot transport. I think I see the release pin but have no idea on how to remove. What I see is a knob that is threaded in to a pin. I turn the knob counter-clockwise and the knob comes off. I turn the base of the pin and it seems to just spin. Does anyone have the knowledge to help me. Bass season is quickly approaching and I am very desperate.

i think that when you turn the manual release valve counterclock wise "not all the way out " you have to physically lift the lower unit up then tighten up the valve

Normally when you turn the manual release to "manual", you can lift the Lower unit up, and latch it up using the metal tilt lock mechanism. Now the hydraulics will still put friction on the movement of the motor, so it will not be easy to lift.

A backup plan is to loosen the hoses on the tilt pump and allow the oil to leak out as you tilt the motor.

There is an emergency release valve on that motor. Look in your owner's manual and there will be a picture showing you the location and instructions.

Another plan, if it's the pump not running in up, is to jump the up solenoid with a pliers to get it raised.
