Carb part trouble

I have a 1955 evinrude. I was told was a 9.5 but am not sure. Any way I found on this forum what carb kit to use (18-7043) at least that is what I was told. When I search these items though I am having trouble finding one with the float and that is what I am needing most. So what type of float would be recommended for this type of motor?? Thanks.

Welcome to iboats. What is your model number? How damaged is the float?

Thank you. I am not sure the only numbers on it I can find are 7518 and below that 01955. It is in many pieces.

Re: Carb part trouble

7518 is you model number. It is a 1955 7.5 hp, not a 9.5

18-7043 is the Sierra part number for the carb kit, minus the float. I boats does not carry a float for your model. They can be restored, or do you not have one at all?

You can order it here, or of course order OEM.

Float is part number 375919, superceded by 376514, which is an alcohol-proof float. Get it from a Johnson or Evinrude dealer. In fact, get the whole (OEM) kit from him and it will include the float.

Re: Carb part trouble

Sorry, exactly what FR said, OEM is simply "Original Equipment Manufacturer"

In this case OEM would be Evinrude, without getting too confusing, which means you would have to order from a dealer. This as opposed to aftermarket manufacturers such as Sierra for example.
