Sea Ray Sundancer

I just bought a 2004 240 Sea Ray Sundancer. Any positive or negative comments are welcome. The boat has 150 hours and was surveyed today. It appears to be in good shape. It has the standard Bravo 3 Mercruiser. Any common problems with this year and model that I should be aware of?

Another iboater has that exact boat. Hopefully Magster will chime in. He's in love with his and is very experienced. Which engine? Most consider SeaRay to be a great brand.

Thanks. It has the 5.0 L MPI 260 HP. The surveyor mentioned the seawater inlet to cool the engine is located on the stern drive. He suggested re-routing this with a new hole in the hull and plugging the original hole. He said it would reduce the chances of the inlet clogging. Has anyone ever heard of this? He thought it would cost about $500. I'd rather not put more holes in the hull than is absolutely necessary.

Don't worry about a thru-hull. Sounds like an old school guy and although it makes some sense, there are a ton of Bravos with intake through the drive, oh yeah, now that I think about it even I have one . . . Just watch the temp gauge like you should anyway. Where do you boat? Maybe it's more of an issue there?

Mags has the 5.7 and it's a 2006. You could do a search for threads started by him, it's magster65. He's got an older SeaRay too, so make sure you're on the right thread

I'll be boating in New Jersey in Sandy Hook Bay which is just a few miles from New York City. I guess he was concerned about the floating garbage, bodies, etc. that are found in our waters. I'll search out the thread you suggested. Thanks
