01 johnson 25 idle mixture valve

Hey guys, my 01 25hp that I just purchased smokes excessively(white) and loses a little horsepower wide open. My 78' johnson had a needle valve I could adjust at the top outside of the carb but the 25 doesnt have this. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to adjust the mixture? Thanks in advance.

What do you mean it loses horsepower at wide open? Sounds like it's running lean,,,,, perhaps trash in the carb, vent on the tank not open, fuel restriction or leak somewhere etc....

white smoke means water, blown head gasket, exhaust gasket. crack cooling port. check your plugs, if one is perfectly steam cleaned, you found the Place, not the reason.
