I feel so helpless, I've watched Nafta come about, massive layoffs due to jobs going overseas, big business, & big government become filthy rich with profits off the back of every consumer, the 911 tragedy, the war in Iraq, our homeland security become personally invading, stifling, and gastapo like, lack of immigration control, the gouging greed of oil profits! people with no, or poor health insurance, ridiculous rules, upon rules, laws, upon laws, I wish I could nip it in the bud, every threat to our way of life, our economic system, our Democracy before it has a chance to take hold, in secrecy, or behind closed doors. While being fed fodder that it "Will be good for us" or "Good for the economy, the USA, or the World". If you think I'm wary of changes, by the "powers that be", you're right. I have said my piece, I'm not looking for trouble, or to start a debate, I'm just offering food for thought, to watch out for the enemy within (if there really is one?) and asking everyone to be the good caretakers of their own life, and this once great nation. Hopefully, we'll make the right move at the polls, whatever that maybe?

Not gonna happen. This is what's called self evidenced reporting. They use evidence that they created to prove their own story. In other words, it's not going to happen now or ever. What will happen is that they'll get rich selling that book to paranoid suckers. The funniest bit is that part of their evidence is how well their book has sold... if that were proof of actuality, then harry potter would be non-fiction.

The only truth to any of it is that what's good for Mexico is good for the USA... meaning that when their economy booms, instead of the illegals crossing the border into the US, illegals cross the border into Mexico... I'm sure most of you know what kind of (good) ramifications that would have. To a lesser extent what's good for Canada is also good for the USA as well. But that's why we have NAFTA. No other economic pact is necessary or benefitial, so it's not going to happen.

A so-called "News" site, hawking conspiricy theory DVD and books, made me wonder where that proverbiall "grain of salt", I should be taking with this news.

The sneaky get-together the article refers to, is the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, "http://www.spp.gov/security_agenda/index.asp?dName=security_agenda", which seemed like a useful-enough meeting with Canada and Mexico concerning security and border traffic.

Whether we like it or not, we trade big-time with these two countries, so maybe getting real about border security and goods traffic is not a bad thing.

I would be all in favor of dropping border security with Canada... all it would require would be complete sharing of law enforcement info between the two, just like our county sheriff's do between county's, and allow cops to pursue suspects into the other country with the assist of the other's law enforcement. It could save billions in useless law enforcement efforts to patrol a meaningless border. Just a thought.

Couldn't do it with Mexico right now, their economy will have to strengthen first to control the immigration flow. But that's simple enough, just raise the import tarriffs for non-NAFTA countries, then mfg's in many of those other countries will move to mexico, and strengthen mexico's economy in time. Which would not only make billions in import tarriff fees collected, but save billions in mexican border security. You still wouldn't be able to open the border with them like you could with Canada yet, as they'll need a lot of time to fully grow and stabilize... but maybe 25-50 years into the future you might be able to.

Thanks for the link mscher, The bottom 1/2 of this page is a good read, apparently it is in response to the link I posted, so with it, you have the view from both sides: "http://www.spp.gov/myths_vs_facts.asp"
