02 Nitro 188 sport Help!

Im looking at purchasing a Nitro 188 sport 2002 model...the boat is mint ...what can you all tell me about this boat
It has a 115 merc ..will it be enough power for a little fun here and there ...little kid skiing ..wakeboarding? etc ...I love the design as a fish ans ski boat ...The most I will be pulling up on a ski might be like 150 lbs? thoughts ...also what is this thing worth ..its like new

Nitro's are made by Tracker Marine. They're nice boats and the 115 hp is enough to pull skiers and wakeboarders. What's he asking for it? How many hours on the motor? Any recent problems or repairs to boat and motor? Have you gone out for test drive at WOT?

kinda snowy here right now...buying from a good friend of the Family ...low hours ...between 50 - 100
I will get it for 13600.00 Canadian
the thing looks like brand new
what else should I know
just a little concerned about the power of that 115 Merc..I think it will be plebty but you get the power hungry guys saying "not enough power"

Very nice indeed. Check the maximum HP tag. If the 115 is 75% of maximum or better it should perform fine. If it's less than that, you might not be happy.

the boat comes with this 115 motor max is a 175

That boat is marginally powered at that HP. At light loads it might be ok but load it up withfuel, people and gear and it might not perform very well. 75% of 175 would be 130 HP. Typical Tracker/Nitro marketing. To get an attractive price they tend to underpower their boats.

well I guess as a starter boat it should be ok ...not planning to use it a whole lot for any kind of Skiing ..more tubing and maybe a little wakeboarding ..if I like boating I may have to buy a better one ..thanks for all the help man

I sold Nitros for a while...they are pretty well made. The 115 will not set your world on fire, but it will do. Run it often and it will be reliable. Depending on how many folks you take with you, and how you use the boat, a prop change may be in order. Try it first and see.
