Yes. You need the longer driveshaft, everything else is done with 5" adapters. There are a number of used ones around and some show up on EBay from time to time. sea-way .com in Seattle Washington may have new ones.

You can get an idea of what is needed from the BRP parts catalog for your motor. The parts are listed at the bottom of the gearcase chart.

Thanks ezeke.

I also need a fuel pump rebuild kit. Am I wrong in saying that $80 is alot of money for the rebuild kit?

I pulled this motor out of the garage last year after about 20 years of sitting, and got it up and running. It is more sentimental that practical so I am not looking to spend a fortune!!

Thanks Again

The new fuel pump should not cost that much. Do you have the fuel pump that is about 1-1/2" square?

Repair kit 18-7823 will work: http://www.iboats.com/mall/partfind...d_row=7&keywords=18-7823&**********=372000960

The pump shown here will work fine: http://www.iboats.com/Sierra_18_735....268674--**********.372000960--view_id.174139

The repair kits are #393088 or Sierra or NAPA 18-7823
LeeRoy Wisner wrote the book on rebuilding the little pumps.

Thanks to all.. Those will work..

Can anybody help with the Gear case extension Kit.

I must say that this site is unbelievable. Living in the city I have a hard time finding somebody who knows what an outboard IS!! Let alone get feedback like I do here.

Thanks again

The easiest setup is to have a complete longshaft gearcase that you can switch to your motor in a few minutes. They show up from time to time on Ebay, but you can usually expect them to need work.

If you try the salvage yards, they may come up with one that is complete and serviceable.

I have an extended 9.5 with remote controls and it works fine for me.
The one problem you may have is finding the extension part for the the cooling water tube. The Chrysler extension piece is a perfect fit.

Actually, the new OMC fuel pump is, indeed, about $80 .. I priced one for my 1970 4hp about a week ago and it was $78 at my OMC dealer. I opted to buy the rebuild kit instead for about $14. The kit comes with not only the parts, but also with a very comprehensive, 11 page instruction guide with lots of diagrams. If anyone would like me to post it here, I already have it scanned and stored on my HD.

If iboats doesn't want me to post the document or pass it on in a PM, I will certainly respect that. That said, do you really think Bombardier is really going to care about an instruction booklet that comes with a kit that it sells. You can't do anything with it unless you are fixing an OMC pump with OMC parts.

The aftermarket sets are true copies of the original omc parts, but they come without the 10 page instruction booklet and allowing that booklet to float on the web puts bombardeer in a bad spot.

That being said,it stumps me why anyone would need a 10 page instruction booklet to rebuild a simple fuel pump.
