Welcome to iboats.

Your warning horn is probably faulty.

A 1995 engine does NOT have SystemCheck unless someone did some converting and changing wiring.

With the motor's model number, we would then know exactly what motor you have.

Look at the port cylinder head and find the tan wire leading from it, A few inches out there should be a disconnect. Disconnect it and ground the control end of the tan wire to the block with the ignition key in the run position. That should sound the horn.

If your horn is giving a short beep at start up, it is probably fine anyway.

Ifound the model number, E-50TLEDS, you were right about the year it is a 1996 , now another question, the system check guages don't go through their check process when you turn the key on, How do i check those out?

From what I have read here, you may be able to reset the unit by disconnecting it from the battery for an hour or so, but you will probably have to have a service department run diagnostics.

Back again , I've been reading some threads about checking compression , I have never done this on my 50 , should i and if so whats the process, I understand that both cyclshould run at 100 psi and that about it. and where would i check to find the right spark plugs for this motor?

Re: omc system check failure

I expect that you will get better than 100 psi.

Warm the engine. Pull the safety lanyard to supress fire. Take all the spark plugs out. Insert the threaded end of a short connector (some come with long and short) into the spark plug hole. Crank for a three count and record the compression reading. Etc.

Best spark plug chart -copy the link to your browser without the quotation marks: "http://www.boatsetup.com/SparkPlugChart.pdf"

Re: omc system check failure

well I finally got around to checking the system check gauge and horn, and I found that I have the remote control box with the horn in it. the manual says that on a 1996 (ED-EC) MODEL E-50TLEDS the horn should be mounted under the dash panel. the remote control is using the modular wiring system. now I grounded the tan wire to the engine block with ignition on no beep. I grounded the tan wire at the system check gauge and the horn sounded, and also at the ignition and it sounded if the horn is bad how can I replace it, it looks like a permanent part of the remote control box.
