I know how to shop for car prices but trying to find all of the data for new outboard engines seems hard. Where can I look for a complete retail/wholesale price list so I can see what they should cost. I wouldnt dare go to a car dealer without this kind of info and wont go to a boat dealer without it either.thanks

i don't know of a place to get that info. there secret. there can be a wide range of prices, from the mom and pop, who don't stock and only sell one a month, to the high volume dealer who is moving many with a smaller profit margin.

The cheapest new engines I've found are at Ed's Marine Superstore. But those prices do not include controls and instruments where required. They carry Yamaha, Merc, Suzuki, and Johnny/Rude

Thanks. I guess alot of comparision pricing is the only way. I dont like to deal when the price is based on whatever "they size you up as to what you are willing to pay" I will check the link though thanks.

Your best bet is to find a dealer that will work with you, if you get the hard sell approach, go elsewhere. I have a few decent dealers here, one stands out about the rest and it's not a big volume dealer, they just aren't out to get rich on one sale.

Do yourself a favor and buy a complete package unless your already replacing a modern engine. I did a few E-Tech conversions last year the their package was excellent, as was the same from Yamaha on anther boat.
