I have a pretty nice gas tank with lots of rust inside.

I have repaired old motorcycle tanks by filling with a comination of coarse sand and small stones from Lowes and shaking the crap out of it. Then lots of rinsing and finally a gasoline rinse.

This is a 20 gallon heavy steel tank, so aside from maybe paying my 20 year old son and on of his friends to shake the crap out of this gas can?????

I know they make rust nuetralizers, anyone got any suggestions??

It is not worth the effort or the money...... but yes you can clean it and coat it with a kit (or three kits) from a motorcycle shop.

Go plastic, go aluminum or go steel but the best idea is to make the old one go away.

Its unanamous, JUNK IT!

I've learned that discovering a mistake in a restoration project 5 miles offshore is not very satisfying, and your wife only thinks your a jerk.

p.s. with the proce of gas this Summer, I'll probably want to monitor how many 6 gallon tanks I use a weekend at $27 a tank.
