Bubba, if you are sure the fitting is OMC (Yamaha is very similar), make sure the small black o-ring is in place on the fuel inlet shaft of the motor. If it is, make sure it is not cracked. I am assuming that all OMC OBs have this o-ring. Someone correct me if not.

Re: quick connect leaking

i don't see a o ring on inlet shaft should it be on the top prong or bottom prong, the fuel leaks out of the bottom

Re: quick connect leaking

That's where it should be Bubba, on the bottom. People frequently forget it's there and it falls off when you disconnect it. It is a small black o-ring about the size of a pencil eraser. It has a groove front and back that compresses to seal. A small amount of grease helps to seal also. You can pick these up cheaply at about any marine supplier.

Say what???? There is an o-ring INSIDE the fuel connector--the part on the end of the hose. That is what seals it.

This guy says he put on a new connector fitting and it still leaks. Betcha he got a Yamaha fitting.

I bet your right FR. I overlooked the new fitting part. I have had several Evinrudes that had the o-ring in the fitting, but it was not sealed in and would stay on the shaft sometimes when removed.

Is your NEW fitting an OEM or an aftermarket?

Many (all) the OEM fittings use a much higher quality sealilng ring than I have seen on any of the aftermarket fittings.

I had many aftermarket fail immediately on installation, I ALWAY use OEM now.

Hi, Bubba.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Do you still have the original fitting, Bubba?

If so, get a couple new, OEM O-rings (so you have a spare) from a dealer and replace the O-ring in your original, OEM fitiing.

A crochet hook makes removing the old O-ring pretty easy. Oil the new one before teasing it into the fitting.

Good luck. :)

i bought a new fuel line assembly with quick connects on it from marine dealer i think it was made by sierra-silverado, but when you put fitting on outboard you hear it click but the fitting rides up at a angle and fuel leaks from bottom hole

OEM from OMC/BRP, Bubba. Trust us.

Re: quick connect leaking

Does the outboard fitting have the prong sticking out to snug against the line fitting? If not, that is what is causing the line fitting to sit crooked and leak. Get the OEM as suggested. Had that problem on a plastic tank. If it is not OEM, it's POS(IMHO). Hope you get it dry or quit smoking (if you do)
