stringer fitting

if someone could take a look at this stringer fitting and tell me if this is what its supposed to look like? there is a gap in the front and i heard that the stringer isnt even supposed to touch the boat, you were supposed to fill it with resin or some sort of adhesive.

close enough for me. this is controversial, but i like to use a bed of PL Construction 100 % poly adhesive. then glass them in..

Interesting; would the 3M 5200 work in your opinion to fill up those gaps to make a bed for the stringer to lay in?
I am currently cutting to fit stringers also, have alot of prep work to do still but I have been contemplating the best method to stick these to the floor.

Epoxy mixed wood flour?
Epoxy mixed with milled fibers?
Comibination of the two?
And now Poly Adhesive?

I guess I will go with one of those because I have it all on hand now, how about if I do one each way, since I have four stringers.

since you have the stuff to mix, use it. 5200 gets too hard.

I'm with TD, 5200 is hard, like gelcoat.

i thought that two nubs around the stringers was supposed to stay to creat a "bed" to fill for the stringer?

Tashasdaddy, I like to consider you the expert on the rebuilding, has the PL adhesive gotten so good we can forget peanut butter? Makes life a lot easier.
