I have 12 Champion UL77V spark plugs that were sealed in the individual single packages.I know they are very old by the looks of the package and the plugs have a brown stripe around them that i have not seen in years.
I was going to put them in the engine and noticed they all show slight signs of corrosion around the base of the ceramic.
I hate to throw away unused parts but thought i would get some opinions.
Junk them or use them?

Doesn't seem like it could hurt anything.
If they don't work you aren't out anything except a little time.
I would use them.

if rusted badly it could crack the ceramic insulation, causing then to arc. but try them.

Thanks! No rust just a little white looking stuff around the base of the ceramic.I'll throw a set in and give them a test run next weekend.
I bought all 12 for 6 bucks so if they are bad its not like i'm out much.
I didn't know if they could corrode inside and cause extra resistance.
Still have to do my test run after the carb rebuilds and new coils and wires.
Man i'm ready to go fishing! It was 75 here yesterday and we had company so the boat had to stay home this weekend.
Calling for mid 60's next weekend so i'm loading up the gear next Saturday.

Good idea Ken,That and a plug wrench..;)
Its hard to find the UL77V plugs around here, everyone crosses them over to a series 831 plug...thats what Napa told me anyway.831 is a QL76V i believe. Not sure what the difference is in them.

I think the Champion 831 is the UL77V. Should be on the end tab. The BRP part number is 0384771.

Yes, I assumed on the plug wrench !!! as I never go out without 2 of them. 1 to change plugs with and an old but functional spare one for when I drop the first one and watch it sink !!!!
