oil gas ratio Mercury 50 hp 1982

Can someone advise on the oil gas ratio on a, I think it is a 1982, 50 hp Mercury Thunderbolt, serial# 6224280.
I have been running 24:1, 1 quart to 6 gallon gas, but someone told me that I should be running 50:1, or roughly a 1/2 of quart to 6 gallon of gas.

I don't have the manual in front of me... but they all pretty much run 50:1. It's a safe bet as long as you are using a high quality oil... (ie: not walmart stuff)

All post-1960 2-stroke Mercs, with the exception of high performance/racing models and oil injected models, run on 50:1.
