Re: 1990 18 ft bayliner 1990 90hp force

With a 90 hores Force on an 18 foot Renken I used to go about 32 MPH and turn about 5000rpm.

So, Your RPM and speed are low for the combination boat and engine. also, 15 pitch sounds a little low. I'll bet you have that crappy black aluminum prop. I used to use a 17 pitch prop.

Since it has been sitting for so long, a decarb might help and cleaning the carbs would certainly be a benefit.

Are you adjusting the power trim to the proper angle? If you have the engine trimmed all the way in, that will certainly knock off a few hundred RPM and MPH. You should take off with the trim all the way down then trim up until the prop starts to ventilate. Thrim down slightly 'til ventilation stops and that's the correct running attitude.

Take all of Franks advice, he is extremely knowledgeable on the Force products.
I have the exact same boat and motor (& year) w/ a 15 pitch prop. My motor seems to run well and the compression is good (probably all north of 115-120psi) and I hit something around 37+mph with a lightly loaded boat. I do not have a rpm/tach gauge on the boat yet so I'm not sure of my revs. I will assume they are probably up there given the resulting mph out of the boat. I do not have power trim/tilt so I have to live with the settings available on the manual adjustment.
I too will be following Franks advice and trying a 17 pitch prop out to see what the performance/speed results will be.
Again, follow Franks advice...he'll help you figure it out for sure.
Good luck and keep us posted.
