wnated to know if any one USED either of these products and what they think of them or if i could have someone who klnows alot alot about gel coat "refinishing" take a look at them and tell me there opinion. first is the marine penetrol... is this a good product to use over the entire fiberglass boat including top to rejuvente the gel coat? how about over new paint that was just applied? second product is the one i am thinking of using it is called Presto gel coat rejuvenator.... this stuff is supposed to Harden in the sun so i figure it will be a good protector over my new paint and restore the old gel coat and make them "blend". if someone could tell me what think i would appreciate it. also what do i use on the top of the boat "floor and cabin cover?" that wont make it super slick but will also bring the gel coat back.

Re: product opinion

I am a huge fan of Penatrol as part of a rust prevention program for trailers. It is very viscous and dries to a hard finish. My basic process is chip the rust, saturate with Naval Jelly, dry, saturate with Penatrol, dry, saturate with Rustoleum paint. I have no experience on using it on top of fiberglass. I suspect it would work well but would require recoating periodically and would have to be completely removed before painting.

Re: product opinion

thank you. yes it is completely bare now and ready for paint. would lik to know if the penetrol can be applied right over the paint and not dull the gloss of it... and also if it dries completely and hard... thus "protecting" it and restoring the fade of the gel coat.
