Towing

I am interested in purchasing a 1987 16' aluminum Bass Tracker with 35 to 50 HP motor. My dilema is I own a 2008 Dodge Avenger with a 4 cyl. the book states it has a 2000 lb. towing capacity, has anyone had anything similar to this and were they able to tow or is the boat over the 2000 lb. limit ?

My guess is that your load will not be over about 1500#, Tony. The Dodge should be able to handle it, but make sure the drive train is in good condition and the brakes are tip top.

you should be fine, we down size 2 years ago to a 2.3 liter 4 banger Mercury Mariner. does excellent job of towing. suggest an extra long trailer tongue to aid in launching.
