HEY GUYS I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD TELL ME THE WOOD LAYOUT OF AN 86 NOVA II. THE WOOD UNDER THE ENGINE MOUNTS IS GONE. Idont have a problem replacing depending on if it is worth it. Also does that wood attach to the transom, there by helping it to rott as well.

The Nova II is an 80's Wellcraft performance boat. Twin engine I/O, usually with small blocks.

I had a 23 Nova for 18 years and YES, the stringers and transom are encapsulated wood. A proper repair will require the engines and outdrives to come out. If you're handy the job is do-able, but not easy.
Coors' time estimate sounds about right to me.

Thanks guys thats what i needed to know. Im not sure if its worth it. It has two 350 inboards that run good, the top side is in very good condition. Needs bottom paint and a good cleaning. Im currently doing the stringers and transom on a searay sevielle 86', not to bad a job, motor and out drive in good shape, all wood is rotten. I gave a thousand dollars for the searay on a ez loader trailor, and gave 500 for the 86 nova II, any additional input would be greatly appreciated.

500 for a Nova with two running marine small blocks is a nice deal :)

I completely understand,

Im assuming the stringers in the wellcraft are one piece running from transom to bow. Would this be correct. If so wouldnt that be a really tough repair providing the floor of the boat is all fiberglass. I dont think I want to tear out and replace the stringers then go back and finish with fiberglass, sand and repaint the whole floor. I dont think too many people can do that without it being evident that the floor was cut out. Am I mistaken with regards of how this boat was built. It would be nice if the stringers stop at the bulkhead at the back seat. Anyone with anymore info would greatly be appreciated.

Copter' - yours is a typical issue w/wellcraft Nova's, water seepage into mount points, No you dont have to replace entire stringers, cut out mounts, wood fiberglass ect down too 2 inches from bottom and 6 inches to each side of mounts, hopefully that will clear rot, then remove another 6 inches of glass only to either side of removed wood. Replace wood undersized by 3/8 all around, i used West System ,and mat to lay up height & width, then had aluminum brackets made in a "U" shape to slip over the stringer, bolt thru the stringer. Alas...so far with 4 hard years under her keel,no problems. Good Luck,Amigo
