If anybody has some ideas , i need some answers.Picked up new motor 2 weeks ago , mercury dealer said boat ran fine , so i wanted to do some prop tests , we launched boat and motor would not turn over , so back to the marina , found out that no spark was going to one of the fuel pumps , Mercury sent out new computer , that problem was solved . So im back at the marina two weeks later now to test props and go fishing , we went for a quick test ride , boat ran great, so i came back to load up gear , went out again , motor started to make some noise and lost about 10mph , it sounded rough ,brought boat back to dealer at the marina , did some diagnostics , no faults showed up , he took out spark plugs and noticed #5 cylinder plug was bent at tip as if it was hit , it had a grey residue , my one question is could gas have been a factor , it was about 3 months old ? Any other ideas would be helpful .Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!!:):)
Gas will not cause a spark plug to get hit on the electrode. It is possible it would make the engine run rough, but very doubtful. It sounds like there is something else wrong wih the Optimax. They have a good reputation but are a little complicated. Being as that it is still under warranty, have the dealer make it right for you.
