Just picked up this motor for $25. Runs great, needs some cosmetic work. I'm planning a cosmetic restore; the powerhead and lower unit are perfect. Any feedback on this motor?
I'm planning to use it on a 12' Lowe aluminum. If I prop it right, might plane with just me in the boat. (i weigh bout 140)

That outboard is no good at all. You need to send it to me right away so I can dispose of it in an approved manner. :D

Seriously....great price for a good runner. It might just plane your 12' tinnie, but you'll probably have to sit in the middle seat, instead of in back. Planing is marginally possible.

Well, for 50$ its yours! JK
The man was also selling a '58 Johnson 18 (red and beige) that was in excellent condition, wanted 200 for that so i passed...in retrospect it was probably a good deal. My garage is already full of "good deals" hehe!
Actually, I bought the 5 with the intention of using it for a kicker on my larger boat. But it looks large enough to do well on the tinnie.

Exactly what I am currently looking for, or a Javelin if I can find one.

Wish I could get those deals in my area!
