The 1995 motors did not come with a VRO (Variable Ratio Oiling) pump. They cam with a pump that put out a (fairly) constant 50:1 ratio. A very good system. In fact in my opinion the VRO system continues to take a lot of abuse for things that's not it's fault. But let's not go there.
That motor is a very good motor, makes a lot of torque (that's what moves the boat, not hp) and is very reliable. But they're pretty thirsty too. If you like the boat and it fits the bill for your intended use I see no reason to avoid it because of the motor.
