1995 200hp envinrude ocean pro

Im looking at this boat with 200hp evinrude ocean pro i am looking for all the information on this engine so far i came up with VRO pump issues is there any other issues i should be worried about thanx

The 1995 motors did not come with a VRO (Variable Ratio Oiling) pump. They cam with a pump that put out a (fairly) constant 50:1 ratio. A very good system. In fact in my opinion the VRO system continues to take a lot of abuse for things that's not it's fault. But let's not go there.

That motor is a very good motor, makes a lot of torque (that's what moves the boat, not hp) and is very reliable. But they're pretty thirsty too. If you like the boat and it fits the bill for your intended use I see no reason to avoid it because of the motor.

Thank you for the insite so it was the later models of evinrude that has had some problems that people say stay away from

I'm not sure there is a model to stay away from. Lots of folks have misconceptions about the early Ficht motors. Yes, there were some growing pains just like there were with the early Mercury OptiMax and Yamaha HPDI motors but those issues have all been ironed out. In fact the boat we tournament fish with has a Ficht and it does and has run fine.

The worst you can say about the motor you're looking at is that it's thirsty especiially compared to anything direct injected or even an EFI motor. It has nothing to do with the brand, it's just a carb'd motor compared to an injected motor. Much more sophisticated electronics.
