Gas Oil Seperation Question...

I have a Tracker Pro17 with a 25 evinrude on it. The gas tank is mounted on the boat. My question is when the mixed fuel sits it seperates causing the oil to sit on the bottom. I like to start my motor (in the driveway using muffs and hose) occasionally for easy start up when I get to the lake. Is it OK to do this since the fuel line pulls from the bottom of the tank? Is it straight oil that is going into the carb? I believe that you could seriously foul some plugs by doing this. I really dont want to drag the boat around town for a while to mix the gas oil in the tank prior to starting it at home. Thanks in advance! Steve

No I am not using a seperator however I just had the carb rebuilt, new water pump, new fuel pump, and the gas totally drained etc. I do not run ethanol gas at all in it. (at least not anymore... lol) Thanks!

I seriously doubt that your oil is separating from the gas. We havn't had that problem for 20 years or more at 50:1 mix ratios. You are in a tizzy about nothing!

Ditto. Unless you're using some seriously old oil that has no emulsifiers in it.
