Omc 4.3L GM motor swap

I've had my Seaswirl OMC about 8 years and have paid dearly for two gearsets, One shortly after a disappointing purchase (buyer beware) and the other of my own doing. I am interested in buying a boat with a blown 4.3l engine and installing my good old faithful. What type of outdrive/ engine should I be looking for to minimize my swap out/adaptation costs. Mercruiser? or does it have to be an omc Cobra or something else?

As far as the block goes, a 4.3 is a 4.3 is a 4.3. Depending on model year, heads and manifolds can be different. Otherwise the 4.3 will will bolt to any drive that was offered with that engine. You just need the accessory items that match whatever combination you come up with.

uh......lets see......your buying a whole new boat cause you got a bad drive?

what kind of drive is on there now?

if you dont like the boat...or think it has gremlins...ok...if not ...look at the top banner.... i boats has alpha 1s for $1300 ish bucks....a used one will cost you $500

but if your going to do a motor swap.....we need more info on what package to what drive

oops! the alpha drive will not fit his transom cut out. nothing but an old OMC outdrive will. he has a good motor, lousy outdrive, and transom to work with. easier to find a different boat.

you will have to get the right coupler for your motor, to go with the outdrive. i'm going to refer this to Don S, much more knowledgeable on this subject.

One would have to know the year and type of drive your OMC is before answering your question.
If your Seaswirl has a Cobra drive, then the cutout is the same for Mercruiser and the 94 and newer Volvo with the SX/Dps drives.
