New wireless remote for older mototguide trolling motor?

Does anyone out there know if the new key-fob style wireless remotes will work with an older motorguide trolling motor? model is motorguide Lazer 500 RF. I am not sure how old the motor is as I just bought it 2 years ago? I am using the large wireless footpedal style remote now.

Its probably worth calling Motorguide tech support. I talked with them before buying my wireless, this spring. Very helpful, once I was talking with a tech guy. Email responses prior to that, were a bit confusing.
