i have a oceanrunner 225 i think its a 93. have been haveing this problem for a year now still havent resolved. idles great runs great when you get going. but when going into gear it stalls out ( not every time) and when going at low speeds (not every time either)---makes almost impossible to dock. Had carbs redone and shift interrupter brand new---had linkage checked last year--readjusted and it seemed to be a little better for a short period now back to same old thing---DRIVING ME AND MY MECHANIC CRAZY!!!! Tried choking it as going into gear when its getting ready to die and that does nothing. HELP

Re: oceanrunner stalling

idle rpms set to low. because interrupter kills 1/2 the cylinders or you have low compression or the cylinder that stay on.

Sid i'm having the same problem almost as if the low idle jets were clogged on one of the carbs. My symptoms are as follows ; first start up engine will run fine at higher throttle but anything around trolling speed will cause engine to die as if it were starving for fuel but it will start imediately right back up and run as long as its idled up . things i have serviced lately stator power pack and regulators .these issues were present before i serviced the ignition items. could a failing fuel pump cause this/ timer base or carbs
help

Re: oceanrunner stalling

same thing--mine will fire right back up and than when put into gear sounds like starving for fuel and dies--in open water i have to floor it to get going sometimes-not sure about fuel pump-we had a new oil pump put on amd that did nothing--got that one from a post last year saying that th oil pump might have something to do with it---it was weak so i replaced it but it did nothing

Re: oceanrunner stalling

Sid, Allow me to throw this out there. I have a Oceanrunner 225, 1996. I had problems with it stalling inadvertently. No mechanics could help. I finally replaced the stator due to a overcharging problem. Guess what. The stalling has not happened since the replacement of the stator. The stator has gone out twice in the past 5 years. I've replaced it myself each time along with voltage regulator. Look under your flywheel with a flashlight and you will see the stator coils. If it is bad, you will see one or two coils burned up. There is also a test you can do with a meter. I'm not saying this is your problem. For whatever reason, it seems to have cured mine. Good luck.

I have had the same problem and the same resolve these motors eat regulators stators and power packs I just replace the stator 3 days ago and the engine ran fine for most of the day and seemed to be ok during trolling for the first half hr then it began to shut down as if it were running out of fuel I gonna pull the flywheel and check the new stator my charge voltage seems to hang around 14.1/2 I notice latley and the pack and regulator are new stock equipment not CDI also I was suggested to take a look at the timerbase linkage
