Hi All

My Question is what weight oil should I use??
What are all of you using.
I have a Volvo with a ford 351 ( Fi ).
The manual says to use 30 WT synthetic.
The only place I see that carries that weight and in synthetic is volvo.
Thats 3 hrs away.
The manual also says NO multi weight.

Thanks

Re: Oil Question

Thanks Don

I have 2 manuals for this drive system.
It came with a OMC manual and Volvo was nice enough to give me
the equivelent volvo model #. With that I downloaded the volvo operator manual. Both are pretty much the same.
As far as the synthetic goes the print is small and I skiped a line.

Since this manual is approx 12 years old, is 30wt still the best or is
a synthetic multi weight as good or better.

Thanks

Ayuh,........ We haven't had a Good, Knock-Down, Drag-Out Oil Thread in a Long Time........

Basically, Any Oil you can buy in a plastic bottle at Wally World will run Just Fine in your motor......
If you want to follow the Manufacturer's recommendations,..... Please do so,.....

Otherwise,.... Run whatever Oil you Want.........

I run Mobil 1, in 15W-50 in My 4.3LX,+ Mobil 1, in 75W-90 in My Alpha 1.......
Oh,...and I use ATF, or whatever Hyd. Oil I've got on the truck for the P/Steering,+ Trim System.........

Re: Oil Question

Ok I want to add fuel to a fire, you there are all types of brands out there for "high mileage" vehicles.........would you use this on motors with high hours to better maintan to motor? I know car and boat motors are a little different, but if they say high mileage oil helps your motor with high miles, it seems that oil would help out a boat motor as well with high hours....any thoughts....by the way where is lubedude? Sorry i don't mean to highjack just curious.

I'll tell you the same as I tell all my customers,

Take your pick, they are ALL good, everyone has their own ideas or preference

HOWEVER,

Stay with the one you pick and DO NOT change brands

Each brands additive packages ARE NOT always compatable with the next brand.

Agreed! Don't keep switching; stick with one. That's why my vehicles wear out before the engine needs major work.
