I have a suzuki DT25C.It had an ole aluminum prop. I purchased a 13" pitch s/s prop. The motor rpm's are 4500 to 5500. I had to back it down from WOT when it hit 5800. I swaped the 13" for a 14". With the 13" prop sitting on 5400 the boat would run 28mph. With the 14" at 5400 the boat would run 30MPH. Now I could still get to 5800rpm's with the 14"prop. If I went to a 15" pitch pro, Would I get more MPH and lower my RPM's to the 4500 to 5500 range at WOT? info: 16ft carolina skiff w/ DT25C. What I would like is to lower my RPM's and go faster.

Re: suzuki prop ?

Generally each inch change in pitch nets about 200 rpm difference.
increase pitch(higher number) lowers rpm lower pitch increases rpm.
Most shoot to have motor run at its max rpm at wot(wide open throttle)
motors aren't happy running below max or above at wot.You also can refine the set up ,vertical height and trim.

Increasing pitch more than you have (14P) may or may not increase speed. If the engine has enough power to twist the 15P at 5800 you would see a speed increase. If the engine does not have enough power you would see the speed stay the same but the rpm will come down. In my view, 5800 is perfectly ok. 300 RPM is no be deal in the grand scheme of things. With a heavy load the WOT rpm may very well be 5500 so you have the best of both worlds. You can throttle back a little with a light load and you won't hurt the engine and will have better performance with a heavy load.

I run a 99 dt25c on a 15ft aluminum boat, the 14 pitch prop is as high as I want to go just because I loose alot of hole shot with a 15 pitch prop. If youre running a 3 cylinder dt25c (90's model), you should be able to run faster than 30, shoot me youre email and I will send you simple ways to modify to make it faster
