Are the GM 4 cyl blocks same OMC and Mercruiser?

Need to replace Mercruiser 4cyl short block 2.5/153 '84 vintage (freeze damage). Will a OMC 4cyl GM short block interchange. This question seems soooo simple and will probably be the hardest and most detailed discussion I have ever been part of. Thanks for all of your help, again.

Thanks for the info on the blocks!! The block I find out now is also an '84 so that should be good.

I guess I forgot to ask the other question are the heads interchangeable 2.5 to 3.0? Or should I start a new thread?

Ayuh,....... They sure Are.....

As noted above,.... Externally, both Long Blocks are the Same,+ Interchangable......
