Mercury 1150 timing questions

1974 Mercury 1150, two questions...
First, there are two dots one far left one far right, which one is the manual referring to that must be aligned with the dissy shaft?

Also, the arrow on the dissy pulley is supposed to be aligned with the center of the shaft, but facing outwards or inwards?

Set the motor at TDC. Now the arrow head on the dissy should be pointing at the dot on the decal. It may be 1/2 tooth off either way. That is normal. Now make sure the timing pointer is set correctly. I use a caliper and add .464 inches to whatever the measurement is to the piston crown at TDC.

So align the timing pointer at the TDC mark or center the TDC mark on the distributor shaft?
