It's the condition of the clearcoat that makes the vehicle look lighter than it once was because of the tiny scratch's! It gives the base color a milky look! You may actually have to wet sand the clear with 2000 grit and polish it back. Unless the vehicle has spent a good deal of time in the garage, the upper surfaces may not have much clear left to sand and polish. It's risky business doing this on a 12 year old vehicle! Hond polishing with a good carnuba cleaner wax will however do wonders.
