I'm so pleased I finally got my bigtwin running good I thought I would try to post a short video of it.
The link below is of the old video but the other one I posted on Youtube is of the better powerhead and the electric start I rigged up with help from others but F-R in particular. I actually found this direct link on an ad I saw on ebay....He placed my video in his ad--didn't do anything wrong and say it was his motor, I just thought it was kind of neat, Ha Ha
Later, JBJ---and thanks for all the help!

Reminds me when I was eleven first ride in a regular boat over 6 hp.
18 ft wood Thompson utility with a 54 big twin just like yours.Same great sound, seemed to fly,was amazing to see that rooster tail flatten out and dissappear.

Congratulations, Jason. She looks and runs great. Makes me miss my 1953 Big Twin. I might have to finally take out my 1954 Big Twin electric.

Don't miss the post I made in the prop section about 1954-58 Johnson/Evinrude 7.5 hp's. You might be interested in the results. It might even get you running them again.

Re: A little video of my "prize '54 bigtwin"

Thanks Guys,
It's always fun to show these things to folks that can appreciate them.
Jay, the lake is Black Bayou Lake between Vivian, Hosston, and Rodessa. It is a beautiful lake. You'd probably like Caddo LAke also, which is only about 10 miles from my house. It's considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Come on up one weekend, if you can tolerate my two children (about to be three in August) you're welcome to stay here at my place.

Wayne,
I caught your thread on aomci and found it very interesting. I took my boy out yesterday in the bigtwin and we caught some fish so he's been driving me nuts to go today so we're taking the '57 envinrude 7.5 today so he can drive. I'm definitely going to have to try the 3-blade! Those are such sweet running/good on gas motors that I would like to use them more often.
Tim,
You'd be impressed if you went out at night how many gators we have! It's way TOO many and the Dept. of Wild and FISH. here will not give any permits to weed them out. And there's some huge ones here---as big as they get. One of my dad's friends who lives on the lake had one constantly coming by his pier so he measured off some distance in between 2 cypress trees that he likes to swim by and determined the length of the gator to be 13ft. 9inches. He came up beside our 15ft duracraft lengthwise one day and truly looked like he was longer than the boat!
I actually stepped on about a 5 footer in a little shallow pit near the lake behind my house while training my coonhound puppies and it sunk 4 teeth through my hip boots! I had blood soaked all in my jeans but it was no big deal. He scared the crap out of me though. I'm going to get some pics pretty soon since I'm about to go on vacation.

JBJ

Thirteen foot gators!!!! Now I know I have to take a ride up there sometime! I might need to capture one to take home to keep my pet gator, Phideaux, company!

Thanks for the info on the lake. I have my boat on a trailer that is too small right now but have been on the hunt for a bigger one. Once I get that done, I think I will tuck a few bucks away here and there for gas money (5 or 10 grand ought to do it :D) to make the round trip!

All the more reason to carry some heat, for the 5-foot gator that is. Liked the look of that pond cause next thing I want to try is a little bow fishing.

Re: A little video of my "prize '54 bigtwin"

Hey Tim,
Me and my family are supposed to be going to the aomci meet in Hot SPrings on the 30th if everything goes well. We have a lake about 30miles north of me where there are some monster gar. Would be some good bowfishing. I'd like to try that myself.

Hey JB, Yeah I hear the Lake Catherine meet is fun. Can't make that one this year...too far, and I will be starting a new job about then. Back to teaching at the local college..woohoo!, gainful employment after being downsized at the end of Feb. I need to get my left arm/shoulder stronger before I go bow fishing, but that's a goal for later this year...I'm roughly a year past rotator cuff surgery on the left shoulder. Getting stronger, but still have to shoot the bow at less than 50 lbs. of pull. I have to be creative when it comes to lifting the Big Twin!
