1999 90 h.p. merc possible fuel bulb problem

lookin for help, is it normal for the prime bulb to go dry after driving a hour or so then stopping for a few minites then having to reprime bulb? it dosen't seem normal to have to reprime

welcome to iboats. when the motor starts the bulb will go soft, but should not collapse. sounds like you may have an air leak in a line. moving to merc forum.

Are you priming the engine just because the bulb is soft or are you priming the engine because it won't start unless you do? There is a difference. Just because it's soft does not mean you need to prime it again. The carbs are full of fuel (unless they leak) so the engine should start without priming if it was off for just a couple of hours. Maybe a short push of the key is needed but it should not need the priimer bulb firmed up again.
