Hi all,

just replaced the impellor and seals on my evinrude 1989 30hp, had my eldest son helping me and he removed the gear selection pin on the bottom of the gear casing instead of the oil drain screw.

Anyway managed to get the screw into what i thought was correct location but appears not be right as i cannot select any gears:mad::mad:, any advice please.

Many thanks

Take the screw back out. If you are lucky and patient you may be able to nudge the part back into place by wiggling the shifter and probing with a scribe or knitting needle. Then reinstall the screw.

If that doesn't work you need to dismantle the foot to put her back together.

Good luck. :)

Re: loss of gear selection ???????

Many thanks fo the reply,

I did try to relocate the pin, by moving the internals i found what i thought was the correct location.

I dont realy want to take the foot apart and i will try again, looking at the workshop manual it looks to be in the correct place and this was the only locating hole i could find.

Thanks anyway

Regards
