I've just drilled to mount the lower engine mounts in converting from a 4.3 v-6 to a smallblock v-8. I've got two sets of lower mounts to choose from. can someone tell me what the advantages of using one over the other might be?
The one that came out of the boat has a lot more rubber in it and says "cushion float" on it, the other set came with the 350 "donor" engine and loks a lot more rigid. I'll attach a picture for your viewing pleasure.
The boat is an 18 foot checkmate and I'm moving from a relatively healthy 4.3 to a stroker motor... I just rebuilt the engine mounts (as in the wood / epoxy underneath along with the majority of the stringers and deck...) and am planning to set the new engine in as soon as the bilge paint dries.
I was originally going to go with what the old ones, but in taking a closer look am very tempted to go with the more rigid looking ones...
Thanks in advance for your experience / advice.
