I have a 1984 force 50 hp on a eldo craft boat and i have been having many problems with it, basically the thing wont start ive replaced everything i can think of with no results. when i turn the key nothing happens. batteries have been checked electrical connections replaced along with, starter, starter selonoide, rectifier, neutral safety switch, and finally ignition switch all with the same result. The motor ran when i first had it and mysteriously quit. I didnt think i had a kill switch as i have never seen one anywhere but perhaps this is my problem. this is my last effort if anyone has any knowledge on this boat motor and or boat it would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the controls are in neutral or it won't crank over!
Have you checked the stator wires, trigger wires, CD module wiring plugins, ground wires, reset the circuit breaker on the side of the engine if it has one and made sure everything is making good contact?

Go to "Outboard won't start" in Engine FAQs

Dont forget the kill switch...it is located by the ignition, or mine is anyway

Mine had the same problem. Turned the key and nothing. The solenoid was bad so I replaced it. Then when I was hooking it back up to the starter, I didn't put the washer between the wire and the starter and it just ran the juice from the battery through the solenoid and then straight to ground. Is there a non conducting washer on your starter where it connects to the solenoid wire and is it in the right spot?

My ignition switch was also rusted pretty bad behind the panel. But be careful if you start messing with that cause you can fry 400 dollar CD modules in a second.

Well im sorry to report that this remedy, although the washer was in the wrong place, did not solve the problem. Any other suggestions would be greatly apprecited. Also the book for my motor did absolutly nothing for my case.
