Compression and spark are good, so that puts us back on the carbs for a solid square 2.
You'd normally pull the jets to clean them, and the passage behind them during a rebuild. You'd also pull the core plug that sits over the idle circuits and clean those out.
I think if you reset the floats, double-check the jet sizes and thoroughly clean out the idle circuits it should do just fine.
