1995 115 Questions

I am looking to repower an older boat, currently running an older Evinrude V4.
I have a chance to get a 1995 115 I4 Mercury engine which supposedly has very low hours and only freshwater use.
The motor comes only with a harness and cables, no controller since the boat it was on used flush mounted controls and they were left in place for the new motor.
What controller do I need for this? What years will fit?

Were the inline 4 115's reliable engines? It looks like new and has 141 PSI compression on all 4 cylinders. The boat it came from is nearly identical to what I plan to use it on, so even the prop should work. It's also oil injected which would make fill ups a lot easier. Is there anything I should watch out for on these in particular?
Any idea on what one of these weighs?

Any MerControl or aftermarket Merc control will work with that motor. Weight can be found at the NADA.com site.

Re: 1995 115 Questions

I've got lots of MerControl shift boxes but none have the right plug?
All of mine have the plug which attaches externally on the motor and is much larger than what this has. The next newest motor I have is a 1977. This uses a small diameter round plug which is inside the cover on the starboard side.

If I am to convert from Evinrude, I need a controller which has all in one, no room on the dash for anything extra.

Did the make or offer this with surface mount controller with the ignition switch in the controller? Right now the wiring goes into the other boats dash harness and nothing goes to the controller. The boat it's currently on has separate ignition and buzzer leads and no wires in to the flush mount controller other than those leading to the tilt and trim switch in the handle.
