I took my boat with 150 blackmax out last weekend run fine untill the motor had a change in tone. I was only at about 1500-2000 RPM's when this happened. I went to WOT but nothing happened!. I backed it down to an idle and the motor died. I had a hard time gettng it started and keeping it running. I'm thinking this could be a fuel related problem. we pumped the ball to see if it would help but I did not see any change in the motor. After I got the home and put the ears on it it started right up and would rev just fine with no load on the motor. like I said I think it's fuel related but i'm not sure. Any ideas where to start would great! thanks in advance!

Do a compression check on it. Make sure you aren't looking at a seizure or broken rings. It could be running on 3 and sound fine with no load.

hope it helps

Re: 2000 150 Black Max loss of power

Well I checked the compression tonight and #1-6 110, 100, 108, 100, 110 and 105. It's not what I was hopeing for but think this is fine!! atleast the are within 10PSI. I'm not sure what factory spec's are being that my repair manual does not say or I just can't find it. I will rebuild fuel pump, change the inline fuel filter and clean carb's tommorrow or sunday and try to get to the local lake for a test run.
