What could be the problem when I try turning starter switch on johnson 115 sometimes it does nothing, but if I keep turning 4 or 5 times it will eventually fire up. Thanks !!!
When you say "it does nothing" do you mean the starter isn't engaging or the motor just turns over but never starts? Or you do you have to keep turning the key to get it to start?
Sometimes it will click and do nothing and i will turn key off and then turn to start again. After a few tries it will fire off. Sometimes maybe 10 or more tries. Do you think it could be the starter or a silinoid problem.
Remove the cowling and have someone turn the key while you check the starter. Based on what you described, it could be your starter/solenoid. Easiest thing to do first is to remove the battery cables and clean them well with some sandpaper as well as the connections on the solenoid and starter. Also make sure your battery is fully charged. Try that first then go from there. It could be your solenoid but rule out the simple stuff first since that'll bite you in the butt everytime
