Chrysler Clutch dogs

I am trying to find new clutch dogs for a (I think) 1982 50 HP Chrysler outboard. I think it's a 1982 but I'm nut sure. If anybody can help me find them please let em know!!

I doubt the Force parts on Ebay will work in your gear case. Clutch dogs are not parts. They are the surfaces on the clutch that come in contact with the forward and reverse gears. Those parts are no longer availible new. Best you can do is find a gear housing for sale on Ebay for either a 35 ,45,or 55 HP chrysler, call chrysler crew to see if they have some or re surface both the forward gear and clutch you currently have. IF any of the dogs are broken on your clutch or forward gear then your only other option is the find another gear housing.

Is that the 55 with the one piece gearcase that looks just like the bigger engine lower units?

If so, parts are no longer available and used gearcases are also difficult to find.

However, If you e mail me at tonyonmemory@yahoo.com, and send some very good photos of the dog clutch and the gear surfaces with the three dogs, I may be able to help.

If your clutch dog & gears are just worn, they can be machined to brand new condition. The surfaces on the dog that mate with the surfaces on the gears loose their squareness and will no longer stay meshed together. Send me a message to tjello1@comcast.net and I will be able to help you with the machining.

Cant he do a temp fix and reverse the clutch dog? I had a old Johnson 18 horse that the dogs went out and I just reversed it, it went for a good 1/2 season or so.
