new member need help 9.9 4stoke mercury

just found fourm looks great.
i am having trouble with 9.9 4 stroke engine. does not want to speed up and have to push the small primer ball on engine to keep running. i have removed carberator tried to clean but still does not run well. could sure use some help.

Howdy, ABBOAT.

Welcome to iboats.

Your carburetor is gummed up. Take it apart, soak it in carb cleaner and then blow it out with compressed air. The trouble usually happens in the tiny orifices and jets leading to the throat of the carb. Make sure they are clean.

took carp apart and cleaned and blew out. engine idels but when i put it in gear i have to pump primer bulb on engine to keep going until it runs fast then runs ok but starts over when i slow way down. did i not clean carb well enough?? or check something else?

That sounds like a fuel supply problem, Ben. Could be a restricted line or tank pickup or, most likely, a weak fuel pump.
