Speedometer Tube Removal?

Hi all, new to the forum. I have a 1999 Merc 150 saltwater edition that is in need of a new impellar. Does anyone know the trick to disconnecting the speedometer pick up tube union found just above the lower unit? Many thanks!

The just plug in you might try a match to heat the plactic a little.

The "union" is not a plastic connection. It has a brass fitting on either side of the coupler. I'll try and post a pic for clarification.
