Magna Galaxy information?

Hi,

I'm about to be given a boat and I'm trying to find some information about it. Its an older Magna Galaxy, I think with a Mercury Cruiser Alpha One motor in it. I'm trying to find some information about this company or the boat so I have a good starting point of where I can go for parts and whatnot. A few things I know need to be fixed are:

The plane plate
The prop is broke
And the Mercury has a high idle

And in the boat itself:

It needs some of the seats to be recovered
And the floor is getting some soft spots

I haven't even seen this boat yet, as it is in Columbus, OH and I live in Asheville, NC. I'm driving up this next weekend to pick it up, I'm just trying to find out a little bit about it before I go.

I couldn't find any info on the Magna, and I don't recall that series, even though I owned a Galaxie for 13 years

thanks! I'm sure if it is a gallaxie boat or a magna boat or not. My cousin just told me it was a 'magna gallaxie' and he's kinda half stupid, so it really could be anything.

Is it a Galaxy or a Galaxie? They are two different companies. I own a Galaxy. Galaxy has been out of business since about 1991.

Ah, you see... I'm not sure. I thought it was a "magna" brand, but it could just be gallaxy. I'll find out more when I go pick it up this weekend.

I'm betting on a "Galaxy" since it is an older boat and is on the east coast. Galaxy's were made in Columbia, SC. I'm in Va., there are lots of them around here.

Do you know a good place to get parts? Or are most boats parts pretty universal? I don't have any experience atall with boats so please bear with me for a bit.

The motors/drives, and controls are pretty much universal. You can get most parts for them from NAPA. They have a huge marine catalog.
