Hi all.

I?m new in this forum, and I?ll appreciate any help on this:
My outboard was running OK, but suddenly the oil alarm started to sound, even when oil level is correct. Do I need to empty thre reservoir to check the sensor?, or is there any other possible trouble?
Does this reservoir also have a float inside?
What should I do to verify both of them?
The other issue is: do you recommend to unplug the gas hose every time I finish using the boat, in order to consume the remaining gas in the carburetor?
Does it help the engine in some way for a better start an run next time?

Thanks a lot.

Re: 1997, 115 HP EFI questions

115 oil tank has a magnetic switch in the bottom of the tank that rarely fails. The float INSIDE the tank is another story, the adhesive fails to hold the magnet to the bottom of the float, dropping it near the switch and it alarms. Unplug either or both of the blue wires to the switch under the tank, if the alarm is silent then order a new tank.

EFI = no carb.

Unplugging the fuel line is simply personal preference.

Running an EFI out of fuel is NOT recommended.

If you know that the motor is not going to be run then add fuel stabilizer, and considering how long between uses you may opt for 'fogging' the cylinders.

Re: 1997, 115 HP EFI questions

Hi again.

How can i do this 'fogging' of the cylinders?

What do you recommend for my outboard if sometimes it starts at the first, and sometimes I need to turn the key 5, 6, 7 o r more times before it starts?, and even when it is running, sometimes when I engage forward, and start to accelerate, the engine turns off.

Somebody told me that I need to clean the gas filter, someother told me that I need to clean the injectors, but I?m not sure what to do...

Thanks in advance.
