A alarm will not shut off with the key in the normal position . Engine seems to be getting oil (blue smoke ,level going down in tank ) If I move the key back toward the off position and hold it in the in between position the motor will keep running and the alarm goes off .Tank is full of oil .I don't know if it is a key problem or a oil level sensor problem , or a heat , heat sensor problem , alarm comes on as soon as the key is moved in the on position ,a constant beep any way to test? Also pumping water find does not appear to be overheating I believe the engine is a 94 the serial # is OD076647 Any help would be appreciated

Re: 75 hp merc oil alarm

That sounds like the float magnet has fallen off, unplug the 2 blue wires at the bottom of the tank and if the alarm stops you will need a new tank and if it don't you need a new oil module.

Thanks I unplugged the blue wires still have an alarm if I disconect the brown wire coming out of the module (says 14857-1 0661) from the insulated block ( also has browns from harness and temp sensor the alarm quits .So I am thinking the modual has failed and is always giving the alarm a ground The purple coming out is hot with the key on and if I give (jumper)the brown/bl that goes to the harness ground alarm sounds Still sound like the module ?

If the module beeps the horn with the temp sender wire remove then it's the module.
