Evinrude Fastwin Fuel Connection

I have a 1956 Evinrude Fastwin 15 hp engine. I am not familiar with the fuel line. It is a single line. where do I get the fuel tanks and lines for this, and what do I look for.

Most 1956 models shipped with a 2 line system. One supplying fuel to the motor from the tank, the other supplying pressure to the tank from the motor. Many have been converted to a single line system with a fuel pump that runs off of the pulses generated by the motor. Some were equipped from the factory with the pump for a remote tank. A single line system would have one line from the tank to the fitting on the side of the motor, which would go internally to a fuel pump and then to the carb(with aprimer bulb). Newer motors used this system exclusively (1959+). The single line system should be able to use any vented tank. Walmart etc. has tanks. Rick

Does your engine have a fuel pump? Do you have a photo?

Gack! A single line on a '56? Blasphemy!

J/k, there are a couple of nice pressure tanks on ebay right now. They'll usually go for $50.00 and up with a fitting included. rebuild kits for the tanks and fittings and stuff are readily available.

Gack! A single line on a 56...wouldn't be without one. Couldn't give me an old two-line pressure tank...well, you could but I'd just trade it off. The fuel pump conversion is easy and an unbeatable combination if you want to run several motors with just a couple of tanks.

Morton, if your 56 is original it will have three fittings on the connector. If it's been modernized, it should have a fuel pump and the connector will have two fittings. Hopefully the latter. If so, you can get a tank most anywhere.

Wow, just when ya think you've seen it all. Can you post a picture of the other side without the cowl? That's where people typically locate a fuel pump on a converted motor. If it has been converted and, then I think you are better off going to an omc dealer and buying a standard omc fuel fitting - not sure of the part number. and replacing the rigging ya got going on there. After you sort out your fuel line connections and hosing, you can but a standard tank with a modern fuel connector. The hose will have a bulb, which after opening the vent on the cap, you'll squeeze it till it's firm. If ya want to convert it back to a 2 line tank, you'll need a manual with decent parts diagrams. And I have used 2 line tanks for years with no probs, so don't be afraid to go that route either.

Yes, lets see the other side. I don't see a fuel pump.

Personally, I'd just get a good used pressure tank.

I'll also note that the fuel input is actually connected to the air output barb of the fitting. You should post a few close up photos.

Wowsers, that is an odd looking duck. Whichever route you go, you can find the connectors for generally reasonable prices on the auction site...I've seen several on there in the past few months.
