I just bought an '88 Crest pontoon with an 89 Force 50 HP outboard by US Marine. I don't know anything about engines so I hope I didn't buy a project! I test drove the boat with the previous owner before buying it and the exhaust holes shot out a stream of water when running. I started the boat in my driveway today in a full bucket of water. I covered the intake holes. Water sputtered out of the two round exhaust holes near the top of the engine. It increased slightly as the engine warmed up in idle but it never put out a full stream of water like it did during my test drive in the lake. Of course the engine wasn't revved up the same today as it was during the test drive. I kept my hand in the sputtering water coming out of the exhaust holes and it was warm but not boiling hot. Is the engine or impeller pump working correctly? Thanks
