Does fuel in the oil turn it milky colored?

My oil STINKS like fuel, but it's milkshake colored. Not foamy, but grey and very runny and smells horrible, even with only 15 minutes of run time. I'm doing an air pressure test on the cooling passages tomorrow, but could my fuel pump be puking gas into the crankcase somehow? The engine runs excellent.

Water turns it milky. Gas just makes it more liquidy.

That's the usual path.

I wouldn't waste my money on a fuel pump though. You should probably wait until you replace the engine...

Oh man, forum sarcasm is the BEST!

I decided today that I'd see if I could burn off the fuel smell so I took it out and ran it at WOT without the muffs to get it REALLY hot. Then it started to smoke, so I thought "maybe I should just keep going". Once it overheated I shut it off and now it makes a clunking/rattling noise so I poured kerosene into the carburetor until it ran over the top and then I lit it on fire. I'm going to buy some spark plugs next, that seems to fix lots of things.

i realy dont think that was sarcasm.
if your oil is milky you have water in it and it dosnt matter what it smell like.
running like you did and the flush-burn job didnt do any thing to fix your problem.
changing oil and gently running to see if you could narrow down what was in oil, might have been another choice.
i wish i wasnt leaving for the week end so i could follow this thead. you have a rather unorthodox approach that mignt work well for you
best of luck in getting this sorted out

No sarcasm intended. You have water and gas in the oil. That's not usually fixed with an oil change....I am somewhat at a loss as to how spark plugs will fix water/gas in the oil and a clunking/rattling noise.....But, I can be taught!..........(now that WAS a little sacastic! ;))

I'd also like to understand how pouring K1 in the carb and lighting it on fire fixes something.....

(Ok.....I get it now Bondo, he's just messing with all of us!!)

What about the plastic line that goes from the fuel pump up to the intake, does it have fuel in it, indicating a ruptured fuel pump diaphram?

This thread is just way too funny.

In all seriousness, when water mixes with oil it makes a milky appearance. The fuel smell will dominate the odor of oil or water though, so there is probably a slight mixture of gasoline too.

I'm sure you know all of this by now, but I just had to mention how funny this thread is -- ROFLMAO

Oh - to wrap this one up - it was fuel in the oil. Tons of it, and it does too turn it milky colored. Previous owner was slightly more of an idiot than I.

I don't get it...
After you lit the engine on fire, where did you put the spark plugs?
Or, do we not want to know?

I couldn't find where the new ones went, so I stored them in the carburetor. Or the glovebox...I can't recall. I'm sure they'll turn up.
